Trip to Tulsa

We decided to make an impromptu trip to Tulsa to surprise my cousin Amber for her 25th birthday. She had called the day before to invite us expecting us to say we couldn’t make it on such short notice. I had talked to Chris and we thought it would be fun to trick her. So I told her we wouldn’t be making it in and that I hoped her birthday was ‘all it was cracked up to be’ knowing full well we would be seeing her in a few hours. When we got to her house, she was talking to Nana with her back to me so I walked up and stood behind her until she realized I was there. When she turned around she shot me a look like ‘I know who you are’ then a split second later, her look changed to ‘wait, you’re not supposed to be here’!! She screamed and gave me the biggest hug. At the same time my Nana saw I was there and she was so excited too. Pretty much everyone but Amber and Nana knew we were coming. It was such a fun surprise.

Saturday we went to see Grandma and Grandpa Sparkman. Unfortunately they were getting over colds so they couldn’t hold Jackson and I missed out on getting pictures and videos with them…till next time. I brought my family tree that Toni made for my baby shower. I decided that I wanted the men of the family to be on it as well so I was collecting finger prints. I think Grandpa enjoyed being a part of something that was going on Jackson’s nursery wall.

After our visit, we met my mom at Michael’s futsol game. It was a lot of fun to watch. It’s like indoor soccer but the field is half the size and you can’t use the walls. Michael’s team didn’t win but it was great to see all the footwork. We also got to show off Jackson to the mom’s on the team that saw me when I was very pregnant in August at “Beat the Heat” in Edmond.

That night, my mom baby sat Jackson so Chris and I could meet up with our friends at Cigar Box. We hadn’t seen anyone in so long and it was great to catch up. I’m so sad I didn’t get any pictures with everyone. Kylie and I ran next door to Paradox and grabbed a late second dinner together. We had a great time minus the fact it was so loud we had to yell at each other. After we ate, we all went over to Nate’s house where a poker game ensued. Chris and I had enjoyed hanging out with everyone and Jackson was great for my mom so I know we’ll be able to go out in the future with no problems.

Sunday I ran over to my dad’s house so he and Teri could see how much Jackson had grown since Christmas. They had a good time watching him during some tummy time and trying to sit up with a little bit of assistance. My dad couldn’t believe how strong he has gotten in just 4 weeks.

On the way out of town, we stopped by to see Grandma and Grandpa Bright. They enjoyed watching him smile and coo up a storm. We got some great video and pictures. They call him Little Felix and I can tell they are so proud of their great grandson.

We had such a wonderful trip. We got to see so many of our friends and family in a very short period of time. I vote for 4 day work weeks and 3 day weekends!!

Changing Table Diaries

Some of our favorite time together is during diaper changes. We like to chat and smile at each other. I love to kiss his nekie belly and wiggle his legs around. I'm pretty sure our first laugh is going to come from the changing table! I think it's hilariuos that he stared at the camera nearly the whole time!!

Nursery

The nursery is finally finished!! The holiday season was so hectic and even though we got our chair in (after a very long wait), we never had time to get in there and move things around. I absolutely love how it turned out. I never thought it would end up the way it did. I guess I really didn't have much of a vision from the beginning so what do I expect. That being said, it think it turned out great and exactly what I wanted. I love being in the room.  It just feel right.  My mom has helped me so much in the nursery. Now that it's finished, I don't know what we'll do with our time when she is here!! Relax for once I suppose. :)

Two Months

I can’t believe Jackson is already two months old. He has grown so much and looks like a totally different baby. He was so good during the appointment and Dr. Moore was very pleased with his growth and development. He thinks Jackson is stronger than most other babies his age. He had to get his two month shots and cried just the same as before but settled down much quicker this time. Later that evening though, he completely lost it. He was just sitting on daddy’s lap talking to Nana and Papa on the phone and started to get fussy. Things escalated from there and he wouldn’t even nurse. He was burning up and sweaty so I tried to give him a wash cloth bath but that didn’t help. I felt so bad for him. I swaddled him up tight and shushed him until he fell asleep. We cuddled up in the recliner and I nursed him every time he started to wake up. I didn’t even think about giving him Tylenol. Mom fail!! The next day he was much better and probably didn’t even remember the terrible night he had. I have so much to learn about being a good mom!

Weight: 11 lbs, 11 oz (28th percentile)
Length: 22.5 inches (20th percentile)
Head: 15.25 inches (30th percentile)

Can you believe he weighed 11-11!!! :O) It was meant to be just for me!!

Stay at Home Mom!

My mom and I ventured over to Paycom today to show off Jackson. It was so good to see everyone again. Jackson was so good and did great being passed around. He's so used to that from the holidays! My visit was two fold as I also turned in my resignation. Chris and I decided that I should stay home and raise our sweet little boy. It's going to be tight and I'm going to have to turn into one of those crazy coupon queens but any sacrifice for material items will be worth it to be able to keep the baby at home. Work wasn't surprised to hear of my decision and they are very happy for us and wish us the best. I'm leaving on good terms and Chad even told me I was welcome back when I decided to return to the working world. I had a lot of fun the last three years but I'm so excited my new boss is an adorable little baby!!

New Year 2011

Unfortunately Chris got sick the day before NYE so we were stuck at home all weekend. Jackson had his first fever just a few days before but thankfully it didn’t develop into anything serious. We didn’t want to get him sick again so Chris was keeping away from both Jackson and I so we would stay healthy. I didn’t even get a NY kiss and Jackson slept through the ball drop. While I was happy to be in the company of my growing family, it was kind of sad!! No lovin' for the momma!! So me and my three boys, Jackson, Neo and Tigger cuddled up on the recliner and spent a very lazy day together.

I so look forward to this New Year. I can’t imagine all the fun things we will be doing the next twelve months. There will be so many firsts, so many laughs, and many joyous tears as Jackson grows into a little boy. I have so many hopes and dreams for him already. He has a lot to live up to!
