Visit to the Smith House

We were in town for Chris and Jared's birthday this weekend so we had a chance to stop by the Smith household today.  We haven't seen Dylan since Aisley's birthday party so we were way overdue for a fix.  He has grown sooo much its crazy.  I think at first he was a little unsure of me but I showed him just how much fun we could have!

Hmmmm...who is the crazy lady!
Belly kisses; Auntie's favorite!
Moooooom...make her stop!!
Toni and I got to catch up on baby and pregnancy news while Dylan took a nap with baby Bright.
...zzzzzzz...
What an awesome pillow!
Chris, Dylan, BB and I
Before we took our group photo I needed to fix my jeans...maternity jeans don't exactly stay put!  I knew Dylan wasn't going to be happy that I was laying him down but it gave us an opportunity to chat.  I asked him if he wanted to tell me a story and I got a few coos and a ton of smiles.  I love baby stories; they’re the best!  We played hide and seek for a minute too.  He was too cute!!
Like Toni said, Dylan and Chloe missed the memo!!
Take Two
He's gonna be such a cute daddy!
I'm scary here but it's still kind of cute!
Watch out now!  The belly will getcha!
It's hard to believe that this was our last trip to Tulsa (not including my baby shower on the 9th which I will drive in for just the day).  I told everyone the next time they saw both of us, we would be handing them a baby to hold.  That's absolutely nuts to me!  We only have 6 weeks to go...unbelievable.  It will be here before we know it and Dylan will have a play date every time we come back to visit.  I can't wait!

And the countdown continues...

50 days to go!!  Can you believe it!!

And in true big baby day form (if you'll remember, my 100 day countdown day was quite the baby day as well), I am excited to share that Baby Dylan broke into giggles for the first time today.  Ryan and Toni are so excited!!  I can't wait to hear it.  We also got a baby present today!  Thanks to Raj, Suma, Avani and Kavela for the Infantino Travel Bed.  I know it will come in handy for sure!  It's starting to look like baby around here!

32 weeks

8 weeks to go but Holy Third Trimester!  This week has been hard.  I am completely exhausted.  I could use an extra 8 hours of sleep each day for sure.  Maybe the fatigue will go away soon.  I'm also starting to not feel good at night again so I hope the "morning sickness" I experienced in the 1st trimester isn't coming back.  That would make me very sad.  So, I'll be trying to get more sleep in hopes that I start to feel better soon.  And check out the difference in my belly from last week to this week...um can we say growth spurt?!?!

What's in a Name??

Everything I tell you! As most of you know, we are having quite a difficult time of finding the perfect name for BB. Ideally I’d like 4 names to choose from…two for each gender just in case…which is incredibly hard considering we can’t find a single one we like. We’ve tossed around a few but aren’t truly in love with anything yet. We may never leave the hospital! Names and initials are so important in my opinion.  It will be with my child for its entire life...that's a lot of pressure!  I guess we have some work to do!

Nesting: Phase One

I guess you have to start from the outside in to get ready for a baby. We were in much need of planting some flowers in the front yard before the homeowners association came to kick us out! So we spent the day in the yard planting quite the array of flowers and shrubs. Once I got the bulk of what we bought planted in the middle island, I had my Papa’s pansies left. Pansies were his favorite and my mom and I would plant some in his yard every September for his birthday. So I have done the same thing in my yard since his passing 3 years ago. This year was a bit sadder than previous years since I’m pregnant. He passed two months before I got married and now he won’t get to meet his great grand baby. I know he would be so proud of Chris and me for our accomplishments and so excited for a new baby. So BB and I sat there staring at the unplanted pansies and thinking about Papa for 15 minutes or so. My mom was on her way home from Michael’s soccer tournament in Texas to get Bear so I knew if I sat there long enough, she would come save the day and help me plant Papa’s pansies. And it worked….here she came down the road! I was so excited to get to plant them with her. After, I got to show her the nursery since she hadn’t seen it since we put the crib together. She loves it…of course! We talked about the bed skirt a little too. I can’t wait to get that project under way. So as my neighbor put it, we’re in nesting phase 1! We’re getting ready for you little one.

Baby Bright's "first" OU football game!

Tonight was BB’s first OU football game…sort of! We played Utah State at home and Tonya and Anil were gracious enough to give us their tickets to the game since they were in a suite that night. We invited Julie and Spencer to go with us. It was so fun to hang out with Julie as she is due 4 days before me. We talked a lot about our pregnancies including the symptoms we wish we didn’t have! Good to know someone else has the same issues I have…gotta love that heart burn!

A Miracle Within

I couldn’t resist having a 3D/4D ultrasound even though they are pretty pricey. I noticed when we were buying our furniture that we would get 30% off at A Miracle Within Ultrasound if we brought our receipt totaling more than $50 from USA Baby…we certainly met that requirement! So I scheduled the appointment for the Platinum package. We were the last appointment of the day which was good since BB didn’t seem to want to cooperate…but isn’t that how it usually goes. The tech was so sweet and excited we had decided to keep the gender a secret. She explained how the technology worked and applied the warm goo and there was little Baby Bright. It was amazing to finally get to see our baby’s face. And I always feel better after an ultrasound…it’s really still in there and looks good! We watched as BB moved its face and hands back and forth. And then came the foot! We were battling against all odds to get a clear picture of the face. Both hands, the left foot AND a loop of the cord was around the face practically the whole time. The tech was bound and determined! She poked and prodded and shook and pushed on my belly to get that silly foot to move. She turned me to the side and then to my back again. We got quite a few really good shots but they took some coercing to get! I think BB looks a lot like daddy which I am very happy about…he’s so cute ;). I was really hoping for the Bright nose and I think we’ve got it! It was so strange to see the eyes blink and the baby yawn. You just think its eyes and mouth are closed and it’s always sleeping but it’s not (and I should know that anyway for all the pummeling I’m getting from the inside out!). At one point BB seemed to be scowling as I’m sure the poking and prodding wasn’t too fun in its opinion either! The appointment was only supposed to last 30 minutes but since we were the last appointment of the day and BB was being very uncooperative, the tech let us go over. At the very end, she made her way down (well, up since baby’s head is down…yay). We turned away so the gender could be on our video. She also took a picture to mail to us after the baby is born. She either wrote “It’s a Boy” or “It’s a Girl” on the photo. I can’t wait to get it…how fun. She was so funny…she kept saying don’t look, okay really don’t look. Of course, no surprise here, BB was sitting on its right leg so it took her a minute to get the baby to move a little so she could get a good shot. So now, the tech and God are the only two that know the gender of this baby! We have the video in our TV cabinet and could find out the gender at any time if we wanted but don't worry, we won't watch it until we get home from the hospital. We’ve made it this far but I have to say, some days are hard and I just want to know. I’ve had a few people say they will watch it for me even…they are not allowed over to my house now! So enjoy the pictures of BB…can’t wait to see your face and see if you really have daddy’s nose.

30 weeks

Wow, only 10 weeks to go. I feel like time is slowing down a bit and although 10 weeks isn’t very long, it still feels like it’s forever away. I am starting to feel more nervous. I thank God for every day this baby stays put and for some reason my fear of premature labor increases every day. Maybe it’s because we’re so close to the end. I have had a wonderful pregnancy so I can’t imagine anything would go wrong, but you never know. So stay in your comfy home BB and we’ll see you in 10 weeks!
