Mommy Bloggers and working out side the home.

I have not been writing on my blog because I've been feeling very
discouraged by the mommy blogging world. I still love reading blogs but
haven't felt like...

Westwood Design : Stratton
I think we found our nursery furniture!!! We went last weekend to see what was out there and then again today to try and nail something down. It's really scary when you hear 10-12 weeks to deliver and you only have 16 weeks of pregnancy left! Time is of the essence now. Plus, I want to get moving on putting the nursery together. Our house doesn't look at all like it's about to have a baby in it. We will go back to USA Baby tomorrow and get this ordered...what do you think?? The picture shows a different color, but we're getting it in Chocolate Mist...it's a little bit darker than the picture. We'll get the convertible crib, dresser, hutch and 2 nightstands. I have read great reviews about the quality of this furniture but not so great reviews about the delivery time so I guess we'll see what happens. I would really like it before my showers in the beginning of October. Cross your fingers for us!
Blog Update: Sunday, July 25
We bought the furniture!!! It's on order and we were quoted 8-10 weeks. Hopefully it will be here sooner...the owner of the store said it should but count on 8-10 weeks just to be safe. I also found a glider/rocker I like so we'll see about that.

Baby Registry
We are all set with our registries at Babies'r'Us and Target! I have been looking forward to this part for a long time. We spent about 2 hours at BRU yesterday picking out the cutest stuff for our little baby! It was really hard though without knowing what we're having. I felt like if it wasn't pink, it was boy. Oh well, by Christmas, this baby will have all the gender specific things it could ask for. We still need to find "going home" outfits, but I figure we'll do that in late October.
So we started in the toy section and picked out a bunch of cute soft toys and books. I wanted to buy everything there and take it home now. Our house is going to go from no baby to all baby overnight very soon! We made our way to essential equipment and spent quite a lot of time there. We had fun pulling the strollers off the shelves to push them around, fold them up and figure out how they all work. I'm sure we looked pretty funny to passersby. We also looked at bouncers, saucers, swings, high chairs...it's quite the list of items we will require. They didn't have batteries in most of their items which was frustrating since I wanted to see how everything moved and sounded. We actually didn't register for much in this section as we decided we needed to do some research online, but it was nice to play with everything and get some ideas. Next was newborn care...oh my! Bottles, nursing equipment, bath time stuff, monitors. Again, there is so much we need. We left with something like 125 items on our list...far short of the 250 items the lady recommended based on the number of people I had on my baby shower lists. I knew I had some work to do online once I got home!
Today we went to start our registry at Target. They don't have a very big baby section, so it didn't take near as long as BRU. There we registered for a lot of blankets and onesies and some things that BRU didn't have. I still had to add a bunch of stuff online since the store doesn't carry much. Hopefully people don't have a hard time finding things at the physical store if they choose to not ship. Sorry in advance if this happens to anyone.

23 weeks
We had our 5th baby doctor appointment today. I always feel better after a doctor appointment. Maybe I'm reminded that I really am pregnant and it's not a dream! My blood pressure went up a little but they said it's okay since my blood volume has gone up. There's just more for my heart to pump. So far I've only gained 8 pounds so I'm on track to gain 25-30 pounds but I still have 17 weeks so anything is possible. The babies’ heart rate has slowed down a little just as it should. Today it was 150bpm...perfect. This was also the first time we got to measure my "fundal height". I measured at 23 centimeters so the baby is growing right on schedule (the top of my baby box is about an inch above my belly button!). I am shocked at how high the baby is. I'm only being kicked below my pants line so I guess I thought it was in a different position or smaller than it really is. I'm definitely breech at the moment so hopefully by our next appointment in 4 weeks, the baby will flip around. Not that I'm totally excited to be kicked in the lungs, but I certainly don't want a breech baby that can't be turned resulting in a c-section...scary!! Ann said if the baby was still breech in 4 weeks, I could do some exercises to flip the baby around. For now, I just have to keep doing my pelvic rocks and the baby should take care of the flip on its own; she's not worried at all so I won't be either! We also talked a little bit about labor and delivery. We are bringing our rough draft birth plan to our Bradley class on Tuesday so I told Ann that by our next appointment we would have a pretty good version for her to go through with us. I am so glad we chose a midwife. She will do whatever we want and do everything she can to make our plan possible. We're halfway through our Bradley course and I am more and more convinced everyday that natural childbirth is the only way to go.
I am truly amazed by the miracle of pregnancy and all the things that go with it. The body is an amazing thing. It knows exactly what the baby needs and what it needs to do. How can this be! We were just meant to have babies!
Tomorrow we are going to look at nursery furniture and to start our registry! I think that's how I got through this week...I have been so excited for this part and I can't believe it's finally here. I can't wait to start putting the nursery together. Maybe it will finally hit me that this dream is really happening. :O)
